Menstrual products are sold in plastic.⁣

They come individually wrapped in plastic, in a box wrapped in plastic, or in a plastic bag.⁣

Some tampons come with disposable plastic applicators – they are not recycled due to hygiene reasons.⁣

The strings are made of plastic. ⁣

Some even have a thin layer of plastic in the absorbent part.⁣

5.8 billion tampons were sold in the USA in 2018, a third of the global total.⁣

Pads use plastic in their absorbent cores, backstreet and wings.⁣

These products end up in landfill and waterways.

Yes, I have found applicators and sanitary pads on my beach cleans.

𝐀𝐋𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐒 ⁣

We are SO lucky to live in an age with alternative options.⁣

Take the leap and invest in reusable pads or a menstrual cup.⁣

I use a menstrual cup that allows me to freedive, scuba dive, run, swim, cycle, SUP…⁣

I’ve not only reduced my environmental impact, but also saved money by not having to buy this product every month.⁣
